Images as Persuasion

Images can be used as a means of persuasion. Who uses images to persuade? What are some of the reason for making a persuasive image? What is the primary industry that creates this kind of imagery?

Assignment: Find 3 examples of images that are used to persuade the viewer of something. copy the images into a word document, then write down what the image is trying to persuade the viewer. Spencer- Organization
    Daniel- Advertiser

Daniel- I think that we should still be able to sell milk. Milk is in constant demand for millions of people ever year. The littering can be tolerated if there is only a small amount.
Spencer-Look at all the junk! this is destroying the environment it has to stop now or the squirrels will die.

    Factory
Miles is the Environmentalist-I think this factory is a bad thing. As you can see from the picture it is right next to the water, and could be polluting it, which is bad for animals, plants, etc. Also you can see that the factory is making large clouds of smoke that pollute the air and affect the environment.

Randy is the Factory Owner- I think this factory is great. It is supplying the town with a necassary product and it is only causing a minor pollution problem.

    Vacant Lot

Randy Stop Littering- Putting milk bottles in the middle of a vacant lot is littering and doing such is a crime. It is hurting the enviroment and anyone causing such a thing should be punished

Miles Advertiser- It’s just milk bottles! Not my fault if an animal gets in there. Besides thats what street sweepers are for!

    Two Houses-
Miles-Real estate agent-the house is fine all it needs is alittle remodleing and its sold! no need to let such good living space go to waste.

Randy-Developer- The houses are on a perfect lot to make a big house and who cares if the houses have been there for a long time, old stuff needs to make room for newer, bigger, and better stuff.

    The Factory-
    Factory Owner: Aurelia
    Environmentalist: Abby

Environmentalist- Factories are killing our planet, they are causing global warming which could destroy our world. Factory owners only care about money and what kind of jewelry they’re going to wear that day. They should actually look and see what their factories are doing to the earth. For instance we are losing polar bears as the ice melts. All because of the factories. If we are going to have pollution-producing factories then we might as well say goodbye to the world.

Factory Owner- This factory is earning me my money and helps to support my family and me. The factory is my life and who cares if I hurt some polar bears in the process. I am supposedly “destroying our Earth”, but really am I?? I am merely improving it, materialistic wise. The fact is that whether I do or do not own a factory the polar bears are going to die.

    Vacant Lot With Plastic Bottles-
    Aurelia- Advertiser
    Abby- Organization

Organization- On behalf of this organization we feel that this littering is a problem. People are becoming lazy and aren’t picking up their trash. If none of us pick up our trash then our whole world will become a pig sty. The trash will start getting in our water system and killing the fish and destroying our drinking water. Milk can be sold without littering, or if it’s going to be thrown on the ground it should be biodegradable or environment friendly.

Advertiser- Well, as long as these people are buying milk then I have no problems to what happens afterward. Thousands of fish are killed each day. They are killed to be eaten, but in this case they are just killed. Is there REALLY a difference? I’ll answer that. NO! You could say that about the polar bears and Pepsi, but the polar bears are left alone. Bottom Line is, BUY THE MILK. It helps build strong bones.

    Two Houses
    Abby- Real Estate Agent
    Aurelia- City Developer

Real Estate Agent- Step right up folks and buy the greatest houses on earth. These magical places are right for you! They have at least one bedroom and bathroom. They also have a kitchen and living room. These houses could become very soon historical landmarks. So think about it you could be living in a historical place. You ghost fans out there you could say that there might be some spirits in the house, but if your not a ghost fan, you don’t need to worry about it. Also there are some very nice ads around the house so you will always be entertained. So folks these houses will sell fast so put your money in before anyone else does.

City Developer- We don’t need any more houses, we need more restaurants and skyscrapers. The more restaurants we have the happier the people will be. The more buildings we have the town will be more efficient. The less houses and more buildings means better economy for our town.

advertiser selling milk-the space represents how milk is not as important as it used to be in the world

organization trying to stop littering-This proves how humanity has forgotten about the beauty of the world

    Advertiser selling milk- Ian
Organization trying to stop littering- Emma
Advertiser selling milk- This advertisements proves that our milk is very good because so many people must have drunken it that it must be good. This picture also means that we should make more milk so more people will buy it and drink it and we will make more money.
Organization trying to stop littering- This is ridicules. The world is not a trash pile but all that trash is making it look like it. People need to start caring about the Earth and not just throwing their trash on it.
